Our firm’s founders envisioned a planning process that exists at the intersection of finance, tax and estate. At Fountainhead Wealth Advisors, original thinking is inherent in who we are and explains why we set out to redefine wealth management.

The FWA model goes beyond making referrals to experts and brings them into the conversation at the beginning of our engagements.  The goal of our integrated planning process is designed to organize, simplify, and optimize all the crucial pieces of your financial life –  taxes, business, investments, real estate, insurance, retirement, estate planning, and philanthropy.

Benjamin Barbour | Co-founder, Lead Wealth Advisor

Ben Barbour is the Co-Founder and Lead Advisor at Fountainhead Wealth Advisors. He
earned his degree in Economics from George Mason University before beginning his
career advising organizations like NASA and Honda on complex project management
solutions. That experience sharpened his systems-driven approach to problem-solving
— a foundation he later brought into financial services.

Inspired by his grandfather, a CPA and financial planner, Ben transitioned into wealth
management and built a thriving practice in Northern Virginia. Over the past decade, he
has guided families across the country in developing sound investment strategies and
retirement income plans.

When the pandemic reshaped how clients wanted to work with their advisors, Ben led Fountainhead’s pivot to a virtual, tech-forward model. This made the practice more accessible nationwide while continuing to serve its Northern Virginia roots.

Today, the Barbours run Fountainhead as a true family business from their new office on Solomons Island, Maryland. They commute together to the island, with their daughters in school just a block away, and occasionally bring along a rotating cast of their four dogs — Grace, Ginger, Tiny, and Maggie — who are regulars on the boardwalk. Behind the office, the family keeps a sailboat, fishing boat, and jet ski, which serve as both alternative client meeting spaces and family escapes between school, work, and community life on the island.

Kristen Barbour | Co-Founder & Client Experience Officer

Kristen co-founded Fountainhead Wealth Advisors to deliver a more personal and disciplined approach to wealth management. Her years at Accenture, involved in large-scale technology and change initiatives, reinforced the importance of being client-focused in every decision. Today, she applies that same dedication to building lasting partnerships and ensuring clients receive reliable, seamless service every step of the way.

From the firm’s base in Solomons, Maryland, the team is connected to the local community while serving clients from coast to coast. Fountainhead adapts and moves virtually with clients as their lives and goals evolve — always with a focus on trust, transparency, and long-term partnership.

As a working mom to two elementary-aged daughters, Kristen understands the value of time and simplicity. Outside of work, she enjoys volunteering at her daughters’ school, staying active, and learning to sail and golf — pursuits that reflect her family’s love of the Chesapeake Bay community they call home.
